Its here!!!!

Hi All,

One more day to go! We have a few important announcements to make. Those who are coming please read this carefully, those who aren’t do read it too, as once you’re done, you may change your mind.

  1. This is a protest march- therefore obviously walking is involved. So put on them sport shoes or just something you’ll be comfortable in. It’s a decent walk.
  2. This is also a peaceful march-please maintain this core objective or our intimidating security personnel will make sure you do.
  3. The Venue- Banappa Park- near Hudson Circle on the way to Corporation. As you come around Hudson circle, and if you were on your way to Avenue road, the park will fall on your left. There is a bus stand that screams Banappa Park. If you have trouble finding the place we’ll be happy to talk to your driver/ auto driver or you. So don’t hesitate to make that call.
  4. Between 4-5pm we are organizing some very exciting performances, at least we are hoping to. We will probably have a street play, an interactive performance/ live art by Arka Mukhopadhyay and, performances by Bruce Lee Mani from Thermal and a Quarter aka TAQ All unplugged. I’ll put up the final list tomorrow.* But this wont be exclusive I encourage all of you to bring your instruments (the ones you can carry around) poems you’d like to recite perhaps? Anything at all. The only condition is, it has to relate to this event in someway. Example- You could sing -Give peace a chance by Lennon.
  5. Also during this time we want to put project “Face the Voices” to work. What this entails- We will provide you with a whiteboard and erasable markers at registration. Write down a phrase or sentence that best explains your opinion about the situation in Tibet. We will then take a glamorous headshot (:P) of you and the whiteboard and hopefully the best ones will be publicized. What we hope to gain- we have found that when you put a face to a voice the impact is greater.
  6. The march will begin at 5pm and proceed to MG road- Mahatma Gandhi statue, where there will be a candle lighting ceremony. Please bring candles. We will have some but they won’t be enough for everyone. Also if you plan on arriving late or Bangalore traffic just seems to be working against you again don’t fret! Our amazing volunteers will guide you through the process and make sure you end up with the rest of us.
  7. 5-7pm is a time to reflect. We really don’t mean to sound like your school principal but we would greatly appreciate it if everyone took this time to silently reflect on the situation and its horrific effects on the people of Tibet. Performances will continue.
  8. 7pm- Schools out! Feel free to follow us back to the park where we can chill and talk more or find your way back.
  9. Lastly, we are so grateful and excited about how large this protest is turning out to be. We appreciate your support and we know that together we can really make a difference!

Sincerely

Akhilesh, Savita and Eshanya
